You will keep in perfect
peace
those whose minds are steadfast,
because they trust in you.
those whose minds are steadfast,
because they trust in you.
Isaiah 26:3
As a self-confessed worrier, I’ve always been in a quest of
understanding on how to attain God’s peace. I have this unexplainable tendency
to overthink that I create a problem that wasn’t even there in the first place.
I overthink in one aspect that could affect the whole other parts of my life. Am
I not the only one?
There have been just so many worries and doubts haunting my
mind lately. It seems that in
real life, everywhere you look there is always something to worry about, you go
to the office and you see people you don’t get along with that you cringe in
fear, you stare helplessly at the overflowing pile of tasks beside your desk and you
feel overwhelmed and discouraged, then on the other note you start to deal with
trust issues with the people around you,
and things get so complicated as you live on—and if you had one wish to be
granted, it would be God’s peace in you and in your life.
But what does it mean to permanently have God’s peace? Does
it mean you’ll never grieve? Does it mean you’ll never worry? Does it mean you
would never feel bad again? Because I do hate those feelings, I hate
it so much.
it so much.
I think that when we say God’s peace. It is a peace that
comes from God and nothing else or no one else. It is a stable kind of peace
because it does not come from or depend on pleasant circumstances, people, nice
events or good things others may do for us. Rather this peace is only based
from God’s undying love and favor in our lives and it is better than any other
peace because you are always 100% sure of His love for you. This peace makes it
sufficient and more than enough for you to face any trial in your life.
Focusing on God and what He wants to do in your life can just
break any petty little worries you have on the side. It is also a given that
when we set our eyes focused on one problem, it won’t get smaller in any way,
but it would just make it seem bigger and worse. Trusting God’s plan rather
than your plan can make a big difference. I feel that to have that peace, I
have to give God the full control in writing the story of my life, because once
upon a time, I was stubborn enough to think I can write my life story that I
just got it all messed up. I believe God is a MUCH, MUCH, MUCH better writer
than I am!
God’s Peace is not ignoring your problems, it is actually
facing them all—lots and lots of them, but knowing in your heart that there is
a beautiful promise waiting for you at the other side of that dark valley. God’s
Peace is still living your same ol’ daily life but making sure you are always a
step closer and closer in achieving God’s ultimate purpose for you. God’s Peace is finally knowing what you truly
deserve and that is the best—God’s best!
